Healthy people and a healthy world

“Healthy people and a healthy world” in the ‘here and now’ and the ‘there and later’, that is what Active Health Foundation (AHF) aims for.

• Healthy people: every person has relatively equal opportunities to choose health sustainably. This means health as the achievement of ‘a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity’ (WHO, 1948). With an attention to ‘the ability to adapt and to self-manage, in the face of social, physical and emotional challenges’ (Huber et al., 2011). The last mentioned concept of health emphasizes the resilience of the individual and the potential to become and/or feel healthy, even in the face of illness.
• Healthy world: concerns societies worldwide and planet earth. It is about a sustainable balance between healthy people, flora, fauna and natural resources such as soil, water, and air.

Health is about making choices

The realization of ‘healthy people and a healthy world’ requires prioritizing health. Making choices based on ‘Health as a Value’. As individuals about all facets of life. And as a collective about the organization of all domains of society, including the economy, the judicial system, the governance, the financial sector, etc. In which every person is facilitated by access to knowledge, skills and resources.
